said voting was “an honor” while threatening to defund expanded voting?

In a May 2020 meeting with two state governors, Trump threatened to withhold federal election funding for states expanding mail-in voting. He repeated unfounded claims about mail-in voting, and said people should vote in person because to do so is “an honor.”

I think just common sense would tell you that it’s massive manipulation can take place. Massive.

They — and you do; you have cases of fraudulent ballots, where they actually print them and they give them to people sign. Maybe the same person signs them with different writing, different pens. I don’t know. It’s — a lot of things can happen.

No, if you can, you should go and vote. Voting is an honor. It shouldn’t be something where they send you a pile of stuff and you send it back.

Trump also stepped up his attacks on Twitter.

Trump has alleged widespread voter fraud ever since losing the 2016 popular vote. A commission was also created to investigate, though no fraud was found.

Trump himself has voted by mail, though he also registered using the wrong address.

claimed that a 75-year-old protester injured by police was an Antifa provocateur?

On June 5th, a protester was filmed approaching police amid Buffalo protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death. The man, 75-year-old Martin Gugino, was pushed by an officer, and tumbled backwards onto the floor, heading his head with enough force to leave blood.

A Buffalo Police Department statement immediately released afterward appeared to claim that the man, who was the only known injury, had tripped and fallen:

A 5th person was arrested during a skirmish with other protestors and also charged with disorderly conduct. During that skirmish involving protestors, one person was injured when he tripped & fell.

The two officers involved were subsequently suspended, pending an internal investigation.

The following week, Trump took to Twitter to suggest that the protester, still hospitalized and recovering from his injuries, was an Antifa crisis actor, and that the entire thing “could be a set up.”

retweeted a video that said “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat”?

The video in question was from a Twitter account named Cowboys for Trump. The speaker is an Otero County, New Mexico commissioner named Couy Griffin.

In the video, Griffin states that “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat” to applause, then immediately backed away from the violent rhetoric.

I’ve come to a place where I’ve come to the conclusion that the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat. I don’t say that in the physical sense, and I can already see where the videos getting edited where it says I want to go murder Democrats. No. I say that in the political sense because the Democrat agenda and policy is anti-American right now.

The New Mexico Republican Party indirectly addressed the speaker’s comments, which were made a week prior to Trump’s retweet.

Griffin has also previously made multiple remarks suggesting violence. He often accused several senior Democrats of treason, which he referred to as “a hanging offense,” and warned of possible Civil War. Many such comments have been in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, as when Griffin said that mask-wearing requirements might be the core divide.

On the day Trump retweeted the video, the US had 1745803 confirmed cases and suffered 102,107 deaths.

announced that he would shut down DACA?

DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, was a program created by President Obama that allowed undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation. It also allowed those people to become eligible for a work permit if they had no felonies or only minor misdemeanors on their record. It included some 700,000 people.

In September of 2017, Trump’s administration announced that it would shut down the program.

Trump put the onus on Congress to decide whether or not to create a permanent version through legislation.

Congress failed to pass any legislation on the issue, but the phase-out of DACA was held up in courts, and is to be taken up by the US Supreme Court in 2020. Trump also later blamed Democrats for DACA’s demise.

threatened to shut down social media platforms after being flagged for misleading information?

Trump made the suggestion on Twitter, accusing it and other platforms of silencing conservative voices.

The remark came after another of Trump’s tweets was flagged for misinformation about mail-in ballots.

At the time of his remarks, the United States had just reached 100,000 deaths due to COVID-19.

Trump’s past tweets have been met with similar flags, such as one in which he posted an edited video of Biden. He has also claimed that he lost the 2016 popular vote because of mass fraud, and said that mail-in voting meant no Republican would win an election again.

Apr. 20 – 808,540 US cases, 43,632 US deaths. 2.5 million cases and 173,000 deaths worldwide.

Now we’re going toward 50 – I’m hearing, or 60,000 people. One is too many. I always say it. One is too many, but we’re going toward 50 or 60,000 people. That’s at the lower – as you know the lower (end of the projections) was supposed to be 100,000 people.

Trump compares a testing swab to a Q-Tip.

This is what it’s about, right? Does it remind you of something? Reminds you of this, right? One’s a swab, one’s a Q-Tip. It’s actually different. It’s very sophisticated, actually.

Apr. 21 – 835,402 cases, 46,380 deaths. Trump again brags about his press conference’s ratings, again comparing them to The Bachelor.

Apr. 23 – 898,081 cases, 51,191 deaths. Trump proposes investigating whether using UV light and injecting disinfectants could combat COVID-19.

So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether its ultraviolet or just very powerful light… And I then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute, and is there a way you can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning

Apr. 24 – 934,555 cases, 53,183 deaths.

Trump says he made comments about UV light and injecting disinfectant “sarcastically.”

Apr. 29 – 1,073,600 cases, 62,852 deaths.

Trump repeats past claims that Joe Scarborough is a murderer.

Apr. 30 – 1,104,914 cases, 65,127 deaths.

We did a spectacular job…

Hopefully we’re going to come in under that 100,000 lives lost.

May 3 – 1,196,402 cases, 69,985 deaths.

We’re going to lose anywhere from 75, 80 to 100,000 people. That’s a horrible thing.

Trump complains about aggressive reporters.

Trump tours a mask facility without wearing a mask, while the song Live and Let Die plays over the loudspeakers.

I think it’s a mask facility, right? If it’s a mask facility, I will. Yeah. I don’t know if it’s a mask facility.

May 6 – 1,273,101 cases, 76,312 deaths. Signs Proclamation in Recognition of National Nurses Day.

Trump speaks on Dr. Bright, a vaccine expert who was fired for pushing back against the unproven drugs Trump promoted.

I never met Dr. Bright. I don’t know who he is. I didn’t hear good things about him. I did not hear good things about him at all. To me, he seems like a disgruntled employee that’s trying to help the Democrats.

Trump reversed prior remarks on dissolving the coronavirus response team.

I thought we could wind it down sooner. But I had no idea how popular the task force is until, actually, yesterday when I started talking about winding it down.

May 7 – 1,302,758 cases, 78,485 deaths. The Department of Justice drops charges against former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn.

Joe has absolutely no idea what’s happening. AOC is a disaster. She wants all fossil fuel out. She wants everything out. She wants wind, which is expensive — kills all the birds. You know, I’m also an environmentalist. But wind is a disaster.

May 16 – 1,522,117 cases, 92,396 deaths.

tweeted a video of himself giving a Presidential speech from a movie?

The scene was from the 1996  film Independence Day. The tweet was derided for showing such an absence of leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic that the President had to co-opt the message of a fictitious President.

The actor from the scene, Bill Pullman, said of the tweet that “My voice belongs to no one but me.”

mocked “low I.Q. Crazy Mika” for “bleeding badly from a face-lift?”

Trump attacked the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, in tweets where he said she was “bleeding badly from a face-lift” when he saw her at his Florida resort.

Brzezinski responded with a tweet that showcased a box of Cheerios that had on it, “made for little hands.” It was a reference to when Trump defended the size of his hands and penis during a Republican primary debate.

The press secretary at the time, Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the tweets:

I think the president has been attacked mercilessly on personal accounts, by members on that program, and I think he’s been very clear that when he gets attacked, he’s going to hit back… I think the American people elected somebody who’s tough, who’s smart and who’s a fighter and that’s Donald Trump.

The show hosts and Trump had had a long and contentious relationship. There have also been subsequent jabs at each other, such as when Brzezinski referred to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as “a wannabe-dictator’s butt boy,” for which she later apologized.

Trump has also accused Brzezinski’s husband and co-host Joe Scarborough of murder.

attacked late night hosts and comedy shows?

Before and after taking office, Trump has attacked a variety of comedians and late night hosts, including Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Bill Maher.

Many late night hosts were happy to address the comments on their shows.

He also has attacked Saturday Night Live multiple times, though claiming that he doesn’t watch it. He referred to their anti-Republican bias as “the real Collusion” and was voiced his frustration that they would spend so much time attacking his administration “without retribution.” He suggested that the Federal Election Commission and Federal Communications Commission investigate.

Unsurprisingly, this also drew more attention from SNL and late night hosts.

Trump has also taken specific aim at Alec Baldwin for his impression of Trump on Saturday Night Live:

Michelle Wolfe was also mentioned several times for her comments during the 2018 White House Correspondent’s Dinner, which were derided as being too vulgar and inappropriate. Trump has refused to attend any Correspondent’s Dinner since becoming President, and was famously roasted by Obama and Seth Meyers at the 2015 Correspondent’s Dinner.

tweeted over 100 times on Mother’s Day?

On May 10, 2020, Trump tweeted 125 times between 6:02:49 AM and 9:54:57 PM. That is a tweet on average of every 7.6 minutes.

Most were retweets related to the Justice Department’s recent dropping of charges against Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. Trump also alleged that Obama had targeted Flynn and his administration, though no details were specified.

Trump also boasted of his ratings in handling COVID-19, and attacked Obama’s handling of H1N1. On May 10, the US had suffered over 80,000 COVID-19 deaths. 93 Americans died as a result of H1N1.

One tweet was related to Mother’s Day, though it made no mention of the three mothers to his five children.
