brought a war widow to tears, then called her account wrong because he had “one of the greatest memories of all time”?
Army Sergeant La David Johnson was killed during an ambush in Niger by elements of ISIS. The event was the largest loss of American lives in Africa during combat since the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993.
La David’s pregnant widow said that Trump forgot her husband’s name during a phone call he’d made to offer condolences. Trump also remarked about her husband that, “He knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyways.”
When the widow’s account of the phone call was reported, Trump said she was wrong because he has “one of the greatest memories of all time.”
He also tweeted that he had said the name “without hesitation.”
A few days later, Trump defended himself by saying that past Presidents didn’t even call the families of fallen soldiers.
Trump also attacked a Gold Star family for speaking at the DNC and disparaged US Senator John McCain’s service in Vietnam because he liked people “who weren’t captured.” In another instance, Trump sent a $25,000 personal check to a grieving family, though it came after news reports on its delay months after the promise.

He added, “We did a great job in Puerto Rico. They don’t like to give me the credit for it, but we did a great job. I have many Puerto Rican friends. I have a real understanding of Puerto Rico.”
In another instance, he said he’s taken better care of Puerto Rico than “any living human being,” despite withholding disaster relief funds, claiming the death toll was fake, and infamously throwing paper towels at victims.

changed the Presidential Challenge Coin to feature himself?
Introduced in the 90s, Presidential challenge coins are handed out by the President as personal mementos, often to service members.
Trump implemented the biggest changes to the Presidential coin since its inception.
The Trump Presidential coin replaced the national motto “E Pluribus Unum” with his campaign motto, “Make America Great Again.” The coin was changed to gold instead of previously used copper or silver. It featured Trump’s name three times, including a novel emblazoning across the front.
Trevor Potter, former Republican former chairman of the Federal Election Commission, said of that the change, “For the commander in chief to give a political token with a campaign slogan on it to military officers would violate the important principle of separating the military from politics, as well as diminishing the tradition of the coin.”

During a period of heightened tensions with North Korea, Trump tweeted about his “much bigger & more powerful” nuclear button.
The tweet sent social media into a state of agitation, with some arguing that Twitter should not allow for “calls for nuclear war” on its platform.
The nuclear button is not to be confused with the red button Trump installed on his desk to summon soft drinks.
