President Trump was vocal in his support for confiscating guns from individuals considered dangerous, even if it violates due process, the requirement that the state respect to all individual rights.
Trump said,
I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida. He had a lot of firearms. They saw everything. To go to court would have taken a long time. So you could do exactly what you’re saying, but take the guns first, go through due process second.
Trump instituted the tariffs unilaterally, claiming them to be of importance to national security.
PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, “US Tariffs were kind of insulting” and he “will not be pushed around.” Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!
During the freewheeling interview, he railed against Iran and the nuclear deal, distanced himself from the “crazy” Stormy Daniels story and his personal attorney Michael Cohen, and slammed Obama’s handling of North Korea while praising his own. He also spoke about his friendship with Kanye West and boasted about the employment rate of blacks under his administration, noting, “Republicans really did the thing. Lincoln was a Republican.”
The cast looked visibly uncomfortable throughout the last few minutes, during which Trump complained about “how dishonest the news is,” Brian Kilmeade suggested, “I’m not your doctor, Mr. President, but I would recommend you watch less of them.” Trump replied, “well I don’t watch them at all…I watched leakin’ lying Comey last night.” He had sacked James Comey, Director of the FBI, for investigating Russia election interference. He went on to attack the “witch hunt” from the Mueller investigation, and said “I would give myself an A+, no one has done what I’ve been able to do, and I did it despite the fact that I have a phony cloud over my head that doesn’t exist.” Kilmeade finally ended the interview by cutting into a rant about the Justice Department and “crooked” FBI by saying, “we talked to you all day, but it looks like you have a million things to do, but I hope you can join us again.”
Trump has repeatedly called for Russia’s inclusion to the international economic forum, and has said that its removal Russia in 2014 was a mistake Obama made “because he got outsmarted.” Russia was dis-invited from the economic forum after it invaded neighboring Ukraine and annexed Crimea.
Charges were filed by the state of New York regarding the illegal manner in which Trump Foundation funds were disbursed for political campaigning purposes. The filing noted the charity’s “persistently illegal conduct.”
Trump tweeted his anger at the unfairness of the situation, claiming that he would never settle.
The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!…
Trump was then ordered by the court to pay $2 million to settle charges over his fraudulent charity, which he agreed to later that year. He had made similar claims about Trump University before it was also shut down and he was forced to settle for $25 million.
Ali’s conviction had already been overturned almost 50 years prior, so it is unclear what Trump sought to pardon. Ali’s family and estate attorney responded that while they “appreciate President Trump’s sentiment…a pardon is unnecessary.”
In 1971 the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously overturned Muhammad Ali’s conviction to refuse a draft into the Vietnam War. Ali’s lawyer remarked that “there is no conviction from which a pardon is needed.”
Trump said of the Democratic reaction to his 2018 State of the Union address,
Even on positive news, really positive news like that, they were like death. and Un-American. Un-American. Somebody said ‘treasonous.’ I mean, yeah, I guess. Why not? Can we call that treason? Why not. They certainly didn’t seem to love our country very much.
Trump was surrounded by children coloring flags at a pediatrics hospital when the photo was taken. While Trump’s appeared to be incorrect, other children present successfully completed the task.
It is of course possible and far preferable that Trump did so intentionally, for some reason.
During a period of heightened tensions with North Korea, Trump tweeted about his “much bigger & more powerful” nuclear button.
North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!
He made the comments about Crimea, part of Ukraine illegally invaded and annexed in 2014, at the G7. Trump said Russia should be allowed back into the summit, as it had been kicked out because of the invasion.
