Quoted by Michael Wolff in his 2018 book Fire and Fury, the email by Cohn reads as follows:

It’s worse than you can imagine. An idiot surrounded by clowns. Trump won’t read anything–not one-page memos, not the brief policy papers; nothing. He gets up halfway through meetings with world leaders because he is bored. And his staff is no better. Kushner is an entitled baby who knows nothing. Bannon is an arrogant prick who thinks he’s smarter than he is. Trump is less a person than a collection of terrible traits. No one will survive the first year but his family.

 

I hate the work, but feel I need to stay because I’m the only person there with a clue what he’s doing. The reason so few jobs have been filled is that they only accept people who pass ridiculous purity tests, even for midlevel policy-making jobs where the people will never see the light of day. I am in a constant state of shock and horror.

In Fear, the 2018 book by Bob Woodward, Cohn described two instances in which he removed documents from Trump’s desk so they wouldn’t be signed. The documents would have canceled trade agreements with South Korea and initiated a unilateral withdrawal from NAFTA.

Trump also asked Cohn to print more money in order to pay off US debt.

Cohn served as the White House’s chief economic advisor from January 2017 to April 2018, when he resigned over Trump’s decision to institute tariffs against China.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster derided President Donald Trump’s intelligence at a private dinner with Oracle CEO Safra Catz, according to several sources with knowledge of the conversation.

Four sources told BuzzFeed News they heard about the incident from Catz. McMaster referred to Trump  as an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner,”, according the the sources

Oracle and the Trump administration denied the comments that Catz later recounted.

Michael Cohen had been a long-time lawyer, fixer, and friend of the Trump family.

Cohen covered up an affair Trump had with porn star Stormy Daniels, paying her $130,000 just ahead of the 2016 election. For his role, Cohen was later charged with campaign finance violations and counts of tax evasion.

Cohen also named Trump a co-conspirator in his campaign finance violations.

scrapped planned fireworks tariffs the same day that a firm donated $750,000 of fireworks to his Fourth of July show?

Phantom Fireworks donated $750,000 worth of sparklers and bottle rockets to the US government. On the same day, Trump abandoned plans to impose tariffs of 25% on practically all Chinese goods, including fireworks. Phantom Fireworks is America’s largest consumer-fireworks retailer. They had repeatedly lobbied the Trump administration to end the trade war with China.

was called “the dumbest goddamn student I ever had” by a former college professor?

Trump claimed that he graduated top of his class and criticized Obama’s grades, but never provided college transcripts. His lawyer Michael Cohen threatened schools on his behalf not to release any information on his grades.

William T. Kelley, professor of Marketing at Wharton School of Business and Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, said over the course of decades that Trump was the dumbest student he ever had.

Frank DiPrima, to whom Kelly said this to repeatedly, recounted:

Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.”  I remember his emphasis and inflection — it went like this — “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.”  Dr. Kelley told me this after Trump had become a celebrity but long before he was considered a political figure.  Dr. Kelley often referred to Trump’s arrogance when he told of this — that Trump came to Wharton thinking he already knew everything.
